Tips for getting your donation accepted

  • Ask yourself: would you give it to a friend? If not, it probably won’t be accepted.
  • Clean it, and photograph it before booking a pickup. Some programs ask for photos.
  • Remove everything from drawers and take apart beds and big tables if you can.
  • Mattresses, worn sofas and particleboard furniture are often refused. Plan a backup.

When donation isn’t an option

If your furniture is damaged, stained or simply not wanted by charities, you have two main options in Eden Prairie: wait for the city’s yearly Community Drop-Off Day, or get a junk removal quote. Many junk removal crews take usable pieces to donation centers and recycle what they can, and they do all the carrying.
